Don 3: Sobhita Dhulipala Shows Interest in Playing the Female Lead Opposite Ranveer Singh
The recent announcement of the continuation of the 'Don' franchise with Ranveer Singh taking up the lead role has seen varied reactions. Some fans are excited about the movie’s return, while others believe that Shah Rukh Khan, the original Don, should have reprised his role. The uncertainty over the female lead keeps the anticipation high. Though Kiara Advani's name has surfaced in connection with the role, nothing official has been stated.
Sobhita Dhulipala, praised for her roles in Made In Heaven Season 2 and The Night Manager, has now expressed interest in the project. Drawing parallels between her role as Tara in Made in Heaven 2 and Roma's character from the Don series, she remarked how some fans found similarities between the two characters. She conveyed her enthusiasm about possibly auditioning for Don 3.
However, the teaser announcement of Ranveer Singh’s role in Don 3 hasn’t been devoid of criticism, especially towards Shah Rukh Khan and the film's creators, Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani. Addressing the criticism, Sidhwani stated that judgements should be reserved for after the trailer's release. He emphasized their commitment to ensuring that the character portrayal meets expectations.
In a broader context, Sidhwani also shared his thoughts on casting for films versus web series. With an influx of Bollywood stars into web series, he emphasized that the right fit for a character remains paramount, rather than merely banking on stardom. He cautioned against the pitfalls of crafting a script around a specific actor, which can be disheartening if the project falls through.
Farhan Akhtar, who has multiple commitments at present, will begin work on Don 3 after wrapping them up. Fans can expect the film to start its production at the end of 2024 and aim for a release in 2025.
